Taylor crafts the Spring 2010 Limited Edition 716CE Grand Symphony Acoustic-Electric Guitar using rare Brazilian imbuia for the back and sides. It has been nearly seven years since Taylor's last run of Brazilian imbuia limited edition guitars—a testament to the procurement challenge this exotic tonewood represents.
The beautiful batch of imbuia Taylor used for the 716CE grand symphony guitar exhibits deep caramel hues with rich variegation. The Grand Symphony is accented with a figured koa back mini wedge and a matching koa heel cap and binding.
Tonally, imbuia's hardness and density yield tight, crisp, responsive tone, with nice sustain and plenty of low-end thump. The 716CE LTD guitar is topped with Sitka spruce and decorated with an abalone rosette and koa soundhole binding. Figured Hawaiian koa binding dramatically accents the Grand Symphony guitar's body, neck and peghead, while a matching koa mini wedge bisects the bookmatched back panels.
The Taylor Spring Limited guitars are cutaway models equipped with Taylor's popular and intuitive Expression System pickup. Taylor also includes a hardshell case with each Spring Limited Edition Grand Symphony guitar.
Taylor Expression System The Taylor ES delivers an amplified tone that will satisfy the most demanding pro player, yet makes it simple for anyone to plug in and sound great. The Expression System incorporates three different magnetic sensors. Two strategically placed Dynamic Body Sensors affixed to the underside of the soundboard capture the complex nuances of the top's vibration, while a Dynamic String Sensor mounted beneath the fretboard extension registers string and neck vibration. The preamp boosts the pickup signal cleanly, without the need for artificial EQ "coloration". The balanced, low-impedance signal the Expression System produces can run direct into a mixer or PA in most situations, and is free of distortion at almost any volume. Three simple, unintrusive onboard control knobs preserve the aesthetic beauty of your Taylor, yet allow you to easily adjust the volume, bass, and treble to suit your personal preferences and performance environment. The payoff is in the purity of high-fidelity amplified tone, unprecedented dynamic range, and extraordinary resistance to feedback and distortion.
